Gaming Partners International (NASDAQ: GPIC) Tracking Casino Chips in Demand

Gaming Partners International (GPI), a manufacturer and supplier of low and high-frequency RFID chips for readers for casinos, has entered into an RFID License and Transfer agreement with International Game Technology (IGT) allowing GPI to develop, manufacture, and distribute additional high-frequency RFID products and systems worldwide.

GPI also manufactures and supplies table layouts, playing cards, table accessories, gaming furniture, dice roulette wheels, and casino chips under the brands Paulson, Bourgogne et Grasset, and Bud Jones to casinos all over the world. GPI is headquartered in Las Vega, NV, with offices in Atlantic City, Mexico, and France, among other global gambling destinations.

Chip tracking technology has been in high demand to combat and deter counterfeiting, card-counting, and other undesirable theft or larcenous behavior. Most notably, Steve Wynn, a billionaire casino and hotel mogul in Las Vegas, opened the Wynn Las Vegas in 2005 with these advanced security systems – casino chips with RFID chips built in them and linked to sophisticated computer equipment placed throughout the property to identify legitimate chips and detect the fakes.

GPI's low-frequency chip detection systems will combine with IGT's high-frequency systems to bring about the most advanced and widely implemented chip tracking technology available in the marketplace today.

Both employ RFID-based capabilities to provide casino operators with the tools necessary to maintain an accurate real-time inventory of the entire stock of chips, and securely and efficiently transfer gaming chips to each table across the casino floor into the cage areas and all validation points. Subsequent to this transaction, GPI's customers will now have a larger array of RFID options and solutions.
