New game console?

I currently own a gamecube and I want to get a new system. I only play sports games so based on that what system should I get? I prefer not to spend too much money. I was thinking about a PS2 because I found some cheap ones on ebay. What do you think?

I think you should get a ps3 the cheapest is now $399 (Canadian), 40gb. But it cant play ps2 games (but i see you dont have a ps2) and graphics are great, just like real life! And because of the huge blu-ray Disks, more plays and other stuff can be put.
