Controllers Hookups
Controllers Hookups

This generation of gaming has become more competitive than ever before. Competitors that were strong in the 90's have dropped out completely and systems that were weak have come up to almost first place. The three main competitors right now are Nintendo and their Wii and Gameboy DS, Sony and their Playstation 3 and Playstation Potable, and Microsoft and their Xbox 360. Each company trying to keep up with the others, they are adding more content, signing more developers, and producing better equipment.
Nintendo is the Leading video game system manufacturer right now followed by Microsoft and then Sony in last. This was only a recent development happening only in the past couple of years. For almost 10 years Sony's Playstation 2 was the best gaming system, with the Nintendo Gamecube and Microsoft's Xbox trailing far behind. However, despite their inability to keep up with Sony, they were still able to produce quality games such as Super Smash Brothers Melee and Pikmin for Nintendo, and Halo and Fable for Xbox. Each system had classics but then the race changed when Microsoft announced the coming of their next generation system only one year after the release of the Xbox. This causes the other 2 competitors to start their own race to see who could release the best next generation system. It was very interesting how each developer took to the challenge.
The First of the major companies to release a next gen system was Microsoft with the Xbox 360, with enhanced graphics, online play, and a great starting collection of games. However this came at a cost of about $400, and what came included was the system, simple wire hookup and a controller. This was back in the day when Blue Ray DVD format was contending with HD DVD format so if you wanted anything better than regular DVD then you would have to shell out another $100 dollars for an upgrade, not to mention a $65 game to play. However, the release of the system was good timing because it had no competition for a year, giving plenty of time to reduce prices and increase quality.
Nintendo has always been a family friendly company that has game for everyone. With this in mind they decided to take an approach to expand their gaming audience from just gamers to everyone. They thought up a simple control scheme that used motion sensors to direct where the character on screen was going to go. The games that they developed were all very good quality and reacted very well to the motion controllers. Nintendo released the Wii one year after the Xbox360 and 1 week before the Playstation 3. Nintendo's advantage in the race was that their system was only $250 on release, also that the Wii was mass produced so they had a lot to sell. The Wii actually sold out very quickly and they could not keep them on the shelves for almost an entire year!
Finally the Playstation 3 hit the market one week after the Wii selling for $500. What made it special was that I came with a BluRay DVD player installed making it already to play Blue Ray DVDs right out of the box. Unfortunately Blue Ray has yet to catch on like DVD did, which is what saved the Playstation 2 from going under when it first came out.
As the race goes on each competitor tries to make their system see like the best, or at least better than someone else's. It will be interesting to see how this goes and to see what happens in the future and what new and exciting systems are born from the struggle.
How much is this gamecube setup?
A used GameCube (blue or black) with all of the regular hookups, 2 controllers used, and these used games.
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Mario Sunshine
Super Smash Bros: Melee
( and is that all of the Metroid games for the GC?) And give me other good gamecube games suggestions.
The GameCube would be $30, the controllers would come with the GameCube right?
If you bought each game used, then each would be around $15, so $60 for all.
The Total would come to about $100 ($10 extra for tax).
Some other good games are Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Mario Kart: Double Dash and the Mario Party Series. Any Zelda game is good too.
