When you get a satellite TV subscription, you have the option of getting all or some of the premium channels with the package that you choose. It is clearly not mandatory to get the premium channels, but if you want to get the best series and movie channels on television today, you should at least get HBO in your package.
Year after year HBO has produced and aired some of the most loved and memorable movies an series that have been created to this day. Even HBO series that have been off the air for years are still airing on the channel and are spawning remakes and books left and right. For instance, the hit series Sex and the City was only on the air for six seasons, but it has resulted in two movies, countless books, countless broadcast TV spin-off, tours and products. The fact that women from around the world flock to New York City to go on the Sex and the City tour bus so they can see where Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda went out to eat and lived really says something about the power of the show and how good and real the acting and directing really was for people. It's been over five years since the last episode of Sex and the City aired on HBO and the second movie is just about to hit the theatres. If that's not a successful show, then you will be hard strapped to find something to prove that it was not.
Another show that has garnered much critical acclaim is HBO's the Wire. The Wire is a series that was aired for five consecutive seasons about crime, corruption and drugs in the inner city of Baltimore, Maryland. Each season of the show focused on a different part of the city and a different aspect of the crime scene there, but everything between all of the seasons was connected to really give the viewer a full picture of what crime in the city is all about and how hard it is for politicians and the police force in American to go up against what is out there. The Wire does such a good job of showing all of the intricate relationships and how deeply seated crime rings really are within the city of Baltimore as well as nationally and internationally that you think the show is real when you are watching it. The acting is phenomenal and the writing and directing is superb. And these sentiments are not just felt by a few people. The Wire has won many awards from many award giving agencies and groups, and it was even listed as one of President Obama's favorite shows, which goes a long way in many people's books.
After only mentioning two shows that are no longer on the air, you should be fairly convinced of the superior quality of the shows on the premium channels that you can get on satellite TV.

It is for my Hubby for tech school for the military.
Looks good for the price and I cant see anything you need to add, but for another $50 you could also get an Asus F3KA-X3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220286 with AMD TL60 processor thats just as good as an Intel T5500 and AMD HD2600 graphics card alot better than the 8400M GS basing it on 3DMark scores for gaming performance. And the Asus has a 200Gb hard drive. Its only got 802.11a/b/g wireless and 6 cell battery, which arent as good as a/g/n & a 12 cell, but has the same ram, screen size and vista premium, plus a better 2 yr limited parts & labor warranty with 1 yr accidental on drops, fire, spills & surges.
But then with the HP, you could get the same $500 discount like the Dell if the coupon from deal studio works, so that'd be better.
