Speaker Wire Questions?
Okey, i just purchased brand new monster cable speaker wire (MOC XPMS100) for my 6.1 surround sound system. i am using just bare wires now, and have always used it. Ive heard that oxidation can occur, so i am looking to buy banana plugs for my front tower speakers, and pins for my rear speakers. My question is how long does it take for oxidation occur, and if it does, could i just trim the speaker wire down to a part that is not oxidized or will the whole wire be a complete loss? also my rear surround speaker wire is run underneath an area rug, with a concrete floor, is that safe?
Well my receiver is an onkyo htr-510, i use the surround speakers, and center that came with the system..but i use sony tower speakers as my fronts. Does NEone have a good suggestion as to which banana plugs or pins i should use, the max i want to spend is 60$
Oxidation starts immediately, however it will take a few months to show effect (this will vary by equipment. You can trim about 3-4 inches off each end and be safe. Use a good crimp vs. solder when making up the banana jacks.
