Stay at home moms vs working moms

This argument has been going on for years and many people have very strong views on which is best, a working mom or a stay at home mom. I think that it goes without saying that a stay at home mom is best for the children in that there will always be someone there for them and having a stay at home mom will make the children feel more secure.

On the other hand the working moms will argue that they just don't have a choice but to go out to work as they just can't afford to stay at home and if they didn't go out to work they would just not be able to survive. Other working moms readily admit that they love their jobs and staying at home all day with the children would simply drive then mad.

I can't really see a problem either way as long as the children are loved and cared for, that is all that really matters. I do however feel for the working moms who simply have to go out to work because they couldn't afford to live otherwise. If you add the fact that many of these working moms are in poorly paid positions and absolutely hate their jobs then it must be a really horrible position to be in.

When these work at home moms then get preached to by the stay at home mom brigade, then I really do feel for them. It really is not a place where I would like to be and wouldn't it be great if these say at home moms could supplement their income in some way which would allow them to at least cut down their hours and be able to spend some more time at home with their children.

On saying that though, I really believe that whatever time you spend with your children, if it is quality time then that is really all that matters. You may get a stay at home mom who spends all day shouting at her children and not getting involved in anything with them, and then a working mom who spends the shorter time with her children but gets involved with activities and showing them lots of encouragement, If I was a child I know which one that I would prefer and I really believe that working moms should not be given such a hard time of it.

do you have a laundry system that works?

My biggest downfall when it comes to household work is laundry. I just cannot seem to get it organized. I wash, or(sometimes leave it in the dryer). I have baskets of clean clothes hanging around. I lose socks like there is no tomorrow. What system works for you?

I keep a hamper in my son's room, my daughter's room, our room, and the bathroom. I also put a lingerie bag (you can get them at Wal-Mart for $.94) in each basket so that socks, shoelaces, and anything else that might get "lost" can be put in there. I set two nights a week aside for doing laundry and I make a commitment to get it done that night. Each family member has their own laundry basket with their name on it. "Towels" also have their own basket. Their clothes get separated and placed into their own baskets. When I'm completely done with laundry for the night, it is then that I put their clothes away. My husband and I share duties. He puts away our clothes and the towels, I put away the kid's clothes.
