After you install the software to your computer, all you have to do is insert the game you want to burn into your disc drive and let the computer create an "image" of the disc. An "image" is basically a backup copy that will sit on your hard drive. Once that is finished, then all you have to do is replace the Xbox game disc with a blank disc. The "image" you just put on your hard drive will then be burned to the new blank disc. You then have a backup copy of that game.

Learning how to burn Xbox games is beneficial to you in many ways. You won't have to worry about your original copy getting scratched and becoming unusable, because you will always have a backup copy.  And we all know how easily a game can become unuasable due to scratches on the surface of the disc. You can let your friends borrow your games without  missing them, because you will still have a copy for yourself! You won't even have to worry about them breaking or losing it, because either way it won't really make a difference because you'll always have a backup copy.

Xbox 360 Core:

The Xbox 360 Core used to be an entry level Xbox 360 which was later substituted with the "Arcade". Although accessible at launch in other parts, it was not accessible in Japan until November 2, 2006. The Core console came packed with composite video leads, capable of only SDTV resolutions. It was still capable of the same high def resolutions (up to 1080i) as the other versions when using a component wire from the other models. In October 2006, 1080p support was added for all models in a system update, including the "Core" using either the component cable, or the new VGA cable (however not most TVs supported this). You may also set up your own hard drive in your console. However it came with a wired control pad instead of the standard wireless controller.

Xbox 360 Pro / Xbox 360 Premium:

The Xbox 360 Pro, which is also named the Premium Package, is the identical as the XBox 360 Arcade, and has hybrid composite and component cable, which helped a lot with the quality of picture. It also had a hard drive which was detatchable, originally the standard was 20 GB, but then standard was 60GB. This was to save game points, your profile, music, films, anything. The included hard drive came with game demos, video clips and a free Live Arcade game, Hexic HD. In Summer '07, this XBox began to come with a different motherboard called Zephyr, it had the most modern HDMI and better GPU heatsink. You had to buy the HDMI lead seperately though as this didn't come with it. Starting at the end of September '07, the most up to date XBox were sent with the new "Falcon" motherboard. This motherboard has the brand new 65-nm CPUs, making them less noisy and cooler than the old systems. On 01/10/08, the twenty Gigabyte edition was interrupted and was interchanged by a 60 GB Hard Drive version at the same toll. Holiday 2008 XBoxs were packed with Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and Kung Fu Panda. Price cuts that were in place on September 4th, 2008 reduced the price from $349 to $299. When the XBox 360 pro was finished, it was reduced to £249.99 to clear stock.

Xbox 360 Elite:

The Xbox 360 Elite came with a 120 gigabyte HDD and a matte black finish. The Elite retail package also enclosed a controller and headset that matched the 360's matte black colour. The introductory release price was $479.99 USD, $549.99, £299.99, and AU$729.95. The XBox 360 Elite was released in North America on April 29, 2007, Europe on August 24, 2007, and Australia on August 30, 2007. These Elites (and other Xbox 360 models using the Falcon) can be known from earlier versions by a re-designed power connector and a power supply rated to 175 W. In 2009, Elite models using the Jasper chipset became accessible. These can also be discovered by their power supply, which is rated at 150W and has a 12.1A 12v rail. Holiday 2008 consoles were bundled up with Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and Kung Fu Panda. The Xbox 360 Arcade replaced the "Xbox 360 Core" as the entry level Xbox 360 on October 23, 2007, while keeping the Core's price of US$279.99. It was publicly exposed by Microsoft's chairman of Entertainment Devices division Robbie Bach to the Financial Times on October 18, 2007, and officially announced on October 22, 2007, although it was available in stores far earlier. It included a wireless controller, AV cable, HDMI 1.2 output, a 256 MB storage drive and five Xbox Live Arcade games: Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Uno on a single disk, which also included a "Welcome Video" and several game trailers/demos. Like its predecessor the "Core", it did not have a hard disk drive, which you must have for Xbox software backwards compatibility. In Fall 2008, when the Jasper motherboard came to the consoles, the memory system was exchanged with a 256 mega byte chip. This was later elevated to a 512 MB chip in Summer 2009. Holiday 2008 consoles were bundled with Sega Superstars Tennis. With the price cuts on September 4, 2008, the Arcade dropped from US$279 to US$199 in the States. In the United Kingdom, with the 2009 Elite price drop and discontinuation of the "Premium" Pro SKU, the Arcade cost went up from GB£129.99 to GB£159.99. With the introduction of the Xbox 360 S redesign, the Arcade fell in cost to US$149.99 for any consoles that were left until stocks are depleted. The Arcade was replaced at the US$200 price tier by the 4 GB Xbox 360 S.

Xbox 360 Super Elite:

The Xbox 360 Elite has also been sold with with a 250 GB hard disk drive & two wireless controllers on special limited editions of the XBox. Also named the Xbox 360 Super Elite the console could be purchased at US$399.99, GB£249.99 and AU$599.00 as of November 10, 2009. A CoD: Modern Warfare 2 package came with a unique limited version black console featuring Modern Warfare 2 marking. Other packages included a standard Elite finish and arrived with 1 or 2 games, with some you got Forza Motorsport 3, and with others you could get Halo 3 and ODST. In March '10 - when Final Fantasy XIII came out, they released another package which was identical to the Call of Duty bundle, but came with a FFXIII game instead. Disimilar to the other Super Elites, this XBox and its accessories featured the identical white color scheme as "Pro" models. This bundle also enclosed exclusive downloadable items so that you can dress up your avatar, and had a special branded HDD. In April 2010, a Splinter Cell: Conviction Super Elite bundle featuring special print on the XBox and the identical extras as the other packages was released along side the Splinter Cell: Conviction game.

its 329.99 for an xbox elite, a network adapter and halo 3. the problem is that apparently, it has the falcon chip. it would be the old falcon consoles in new boxes and with no HDMI cable.

is it that bad to buy a falcon right now since i take good care of everything i have or i absolutely need the jasper in order to avoid sending the console back to microsoft a thousand times. my frien has the first version of xbox 360 consoles (20Gb) and it never got the rrod and he doesnt really take care of his stuff...

i would look into getting the modern warfare two console. it is an elite. $399. but you get the console, two wireless controllers, a 250 gb hard drive(thats not a typo 250!), a headset, and modern warfare two. plus warrenty.
Considering how much a 20gb hard drive sells for, thats a good deal alone. you should look into it.

Are the Guitar Hero III Replacement Disks worth getting?

I was wondering if I should get one, but don't know if I should. Is it completely free? And is the only difference on the game the surround sound? Will all of the data still be saved to the Wii? There are no other features or differences? Please let me know if you have gone through this process.

The only difference is improving the Mono sound quality. The disc will be the exact same except on the very bottom instead of saying "No." it should say "No. 2." This means this is a remastered disc. I don't think you will lose data.

First be sure what sound type your TV goes through. If you go through Stereo or Surround, a new disc won't be necessary.

If you have the number to call them, go ahead and call them and let them know. You will have to send it in by mail and wait a couple weeks to get a new one. Call them first!

I don't require getting a remastered disc because my TV is completely Stereo (my TV has 2 built-in speakers and my Wii menu music echoes when its sound is on Mono and it's normal when it's on Stereo.)

The "Windows tax"

A common complaint about Windows comes from those who want to purchase a computer without a copy of Windows pre-installed and without paying extra for the license, because they intend to use another operating system instead, such as Linux, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris or any other libre-free open source OS, or because they already own a Windows license (like university students who are able to acquire a free Windows license through the MSDN Academic Alliance program). Since free operating systems provide strong competition to Windows which is a non free OS, Microsoft tries to force users not to choose an operating system by creating a market where most computers shipped from OEMs come with Windows preinstalled, and by secretly agreeing with OEMs by means of rebates, to make it very hard to receive a Windows refund.

While many computer manufacturers have begun to offer specific product ranges with Linux pre-installed (these include HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, MSI, Intel and others), finding such a computer from a major OEM is challenging. These models are mostly limited to high-end workstations and enterprise servers, or budget, domestic models. Dell for example sells Linux pre-installed on home systems, but it is only offered on a limited number of models and configurations and Dell also explicitly warns prospective buyers that "The main thing to note is that when you choose open source you don't get a Windows operating system."

Formally, computers with free operating systems can be obtained, but practically most large computer vendors continue to bundle Microsoft Windows with the majority of the personal computers in their ranges. The Findings of Fact in the United States Microsoft antitrust case established that "One of the ways Microsoft combats piracy is by advising OEMs that they will be charged a higher price for Windows unless they drastically limit the number of PCs that they sell without an operating system pre-installed. In 1998, all major OEMs agreed to this restriction." This has been called the "Windows tax" or "Microsoft tax".

Some smaller OEMs and larger retail chains such as system76 have taken advantage of the paucity of non-Windows offerings by major suppliers by specializing in Linux-based systems. Some Linux distributors also run 'partnership' programs to endorse suppliers of machines with their system preinstalled. Sun Microsystems, which supports OpenSolaris distribution, runs a partnership program with Toshiba which provides Toshiba laptops with OpenSolaris preinstalled.

Windows tax can also be avoided by assembling a computer from separately purchased parts, thus not buying it from an OEM. This however requires extra effort and technical knowledge, and is even more difficult in case of a laptop. Another option is buying a preassembled white box machine.

License refund policy

According to Microsoft's End User License Agreement, the end user can return Windows for a refund by refusing the terms of the license:

By using the software, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software. Instead, contact the manufacturer or installer to determine their return policy for a refund or credit.

However, many vendors try to avoid refunding the unused copy of Windows by claiming that the customer must return the computer along with the operating system in order to get a refund, despite this being a violation of consumer protection law in many countries.[citation needed] Acer has a policy of charging for the provision of the refund such that the balance received by the customer is as low as 30. In other cases, vendors were trying to enforce non-disclosure agreements on the customers who requested refunds.

License refund cases

Toshiba

In 1998, Geoffrey Bennett purchased a Toshiba Notebook with Windows preinstalled, after much struggle, Geoffrey received a AU$110 check from Toshiba as a refund.

Dell

In 2006 a British man purchased a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop bundled with Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2 preinstalled, but did not accept Microsoft's End User License Agreement (EULA). Within one week of requesting a refund from Dell, the customer received a "goodwill" refund of GBP 47 (55.23 including tax) from Dell for a "no Windows" option, as the copy of the system was an "unused product" according to the software license agreement. Dell had not asked for the installation medium to be returned and commented that although it doesn't have a Windows refund program, giving a refund in an individual case isn't forbidden either.

In the same period, a Swiss man received a refund of about CHF 150 from Dell. The laptop model and refund procedure was the same.

In 2007, Serge Wroclawski, an American Dell customer purchased a laptop and received $52.50 refund from Dell for unused Windows bundled to the computer.

According to Sddeutsche Zeitung, a German Dell customer replaced the preinstalled Windows with Linux and was credited the amount of 78 for the operating system and a further unspecified Microsoft program. According to ynetnews, an Israeli Dell customer received a refund of $137 for an unused Windows Vista, after filing a small court claim. As it was reported a Russian customer received a refund of $73.90 from BenQ for an unused preinstalled copy of Microsoft Windows Vista. It took him approximately 4 months.

In October 2009, after two months and 14 e-mails of negotiations with Dell representatives, Graeme Cobbett received 70 ($115) refund from Dell for rejected Windows Vista Home Premium license, as he intended to use Linux Mint on his Dell Studio 1555 laptop.

Acer

A French court ordered Acer to refund the purchase price of preinstalled laptop software amounting to 135.20 for Windows XP Home.

HP

In a civil suit an Italian court rejected HP's argument that the licensing conditions had been set unilaterally by Microsoft and ordered HP to reimburse a customer the amount of 90 for an unused copy of Windows XP bundled with a Compaq notebook. The court was of the opinion that HP had to know about the conditions, because they most likely constituted part of the agreement between them and Microsoft. It also found the fact that computers without an operating system are available on the market to be irrelevant.

In July 2008, an American HP customer from Hawaii was able to receive a $200 refund from HP for unused Windows Vista, after going through a lot of time consuming interactions with HP representatives.

Lenovo

While in general Lenovo tries to deny the availability of Windows tax refund, in 2008 a customer of an official German Lenovo dealer claimed and received 30 from Lenovo Germany for preinstalled Windows XP Tablet Edition bundled to the Lenovo X60 laptop which he bought.

In August 2008, Lenovo Czech Republic wanted its customer to sign a non-disclosure agreement before Windows licence refund to prevent him from talking about the deal, but the customer refused and took the story to local Linux web portal AbcLinux.cz, which gave him an equivalent amount of money for telling his story to the world. Mr. Kamil Pral, Lenovo R customer, tried in accordance with the EULA of the Windows Vista Business OEM software, to exercise his right to return the license for using the preinstalled operating system from Microsoft because he wanted to use Linux on his computer. In accordance with the terms of the EULA he contacted Lenovo R for refund, and after some lengthy negotiations with representatives of Lenovo R's technical support and management, he was offered financial compensation for returning the license in the amount of CZK 1950 ($130, 78), pending his acceptance of the non-disclosure agreement. Mr. Pral decided not to accept the offer under such conditions, and forgo the offered compensation. He published an account of his experiences on http://abclinuxu.cz. The editors of the website decided to reward Mr. Pral for publishing the article by paying him an author's royalty in the same amount as was the offered compensation for returning the license.

Fujitsu Siemens

Those who were forced to pay for Windows Home Server can also be eligible for a refund if they have not used the software before removing it from their systems. This version of Windows usually comes bundled with headless servers which are capable of running many other operating systems. Nevertheless it is often hard or impossible to acquire this hardware without a bundled copy of Windows Home Server. In one example of such a refund the owner of a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo Home Server was refunded $68 in September 2009.

Public response

Microsoft Windows bundling policy and artificially imposed difficulties in obtaining a Windows tax refund from OEMs caused different groups of activists to publicly react on the matter organizing such events as "Windows refund day" when "hundreds of people who prefer other operating systems, but had to buy Microsoft software with their new computers, converged on Microsoft offices carrying shrink-wrapped manuals and disks and wielding the penguin mascots of the free Linux OS, demanding their money back".

There are four types of HDMI connectors. Type A and B are specified with the HDMI 1.0 definition. Type C refers to HDMI 1.3 specifications and Type D refers to HDMI 1.4 specifications.

A Mini HDMI connector or Type C, refers to the HDMI 1.3 specifications and configuration of 19 pins and 13.9 mm X 4.45 mm male plug connector. How do I get surround sound on Xbox 360 HDMI Premium Console?

This speaker set only takes an already splitted surround signal.
With this set, you won't get any surround sound from the Xbox 360.

You need a speaker set, that either allows for HDMI passthrough, so you can plug it between the Xbox and your TV, or you use the Microsoft HDMI accessory cable that also has the audio adaptor plug. With this you connect a surround sound decoder that can decode optical digital sound from a TOSLINK cable.

But you should expect to pay more than just 30 Pounds for such a setup.

If I can make a recommendation:

Try to find the Creative Cambridge Soundworks DTT 3500 Digital on ebay. It's the best affordable setup you can get.
