Twin Snes Nes
Twin Snes Nes

Has anyone played the Duo Twin system that plays NES & SNES games?
I am looking for a cheaper gaming system for my 2 younger boys ages 4 & 6. They are wanting a Wii and we are thinking about getting them the Duo or the SNES system and seeing how well they take care of that 1st. Then upgrading. =) We have a Xbox 360 and they seem to have a hard time not scratching the discs (the discs are soo expensive and we really need to give that system a break from all the roughness =) ) So we were looking at the Duo or SNES b/c they are the big block games. My question is, is the DUO system any good or is it a piece of junk? Would you all recommend the Duo or the SNES or something else for the age group. Thanks for all your help and input.
With the original NES your best bet is to get a new one if possible, the used ones always seem to have some kind of problem getting the game going, but can be fixed if you find the right method, like on mine you have to put the game in JUST far enough to clear and press down really slow, then it works, if you just cram it in it wont work lol. And on my friends you have to stick a pencil in on top of the game or else it wont work hehe.
As for the SNES I have never had a problem with one, they seem to be pretty durable.
Anyway, about the Duo Twin, I have never heard of it, but I did buy an FC Twin which sounds like a version of what you are looking for as it plays both NES and SNES games. I wouldnt recommend it as after a week it wouldnt play my NES games anymore, and only half the SNES games would still work. So yeah, be warned lol. I guess its just like anything else, when you buy the legit Nintendo game system its going to work better and last longer than a cheaper knockoff. If you do get the Twin, just make sure you keep the reciept and have some time to take it back if it doesnt work right, etc.
So personally I would opt for the SNES, or the NES if you can find one new or at least refurbished. I also really liked the SEGA console, never had a problem with it either, and they are also cartridges instead of disks, so thats another option.
Last thing I would say is to check around wherever you live cuz you dont want to get a sytem if you cant find games easy for it. We have stores like Game Stop which has SOME stuff, but there is a place called Game Over that specializes in just old school consoles and games so they have a TON of stuff. Also flea markets and used video stores, I have found some good cheap stuff in those places too.
Anyway, hope that helps in some way.
