Will a G Con 2 light gun work with a plasma tv?

I not this question was asked before and someone said that it works on any tv, "how does the gun know what tv you have" or something similarly smug. However, I know that the 'Sharpshooter' wireless does not work with either plasma or LCD so please only answer if you know.

No it won't.
Regular light guns only work on CRT (cathode ray tube) televisions. This is because the screen on a CRT TV updates line by line and when you pull the trigger on the light gun it "reads" the spot on the TV that it is currently pointing at by waiting for the update line to reach it (This happens in a split second so all you see is a flash on the screen).
The game then calculates that position in relation to the graphics on the screen and calculates whether or not it is a hit or a miss and updates the graphics accordingly.
This all takes milliseconds to occur so the effect is that you point, shoot and either hit or miss. Very clever.
However; as Plasma, Rear Projection and LCD televisions don't update their images line by line there is no way of the light gun knowing where it is being pointed. So they don't work.
You can now buy guns that do work for Plasma etc. But they are quite expensive as they work by fitting two sensor arrays to either side of the TV screen, these arrays then set up an invisible grid across the screen and when you pull the trigger a beam interrupts that grid and tells the games console where you were aiming.
The plus points being that there is no flash on the screen, the downside being the cost and the fact that you have to stick these sensor arrays to your nice shiny new telly.
